White Hill School Site Council
The Site Council is comprised of 6 parent representatives, 2 for each grade, 3 certificated employee representatives, 1 classified employee representative, and administrative representatives. At times, Site Councils have student representatives as well.

Our Site Council is responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating educational programs that improve the education for WHMS students, consistent with School District goals and and state law. The committee also annually oversees the budget, reviews and revises the school plan and conducts other actions as required by law and the RVSD. The term consists of three years. Parents may not serve for more than three consecutive years. Each one of the four feeder elementary schools must be represented within this group. The WH Site Council will meet 7 times this year: Sept 26, Oct 24, Nov 28, Jan 23, Feb 27, April 24, and May 22.

A number of parents have indicated interest in participating on Site Council. An on-line election to choose the voting membership openings will be held very soon. However, any parent may attend and participate in Site Council meetings and discussions.

Parent Recognition - Stephen Pringle
Stephen Pringle has done amazing things beautifying the sixth grade area and it appears there may be still more to come! To date, he has provided and set up umbrellas for picnic tables, large pots and plants, doormats, a hose with a fancy nozzle, and hub beautiful lunch benches. Amazingly, he appears in the evenings and makes magic happen for students and staff to enjoy the the following day. Thank you Stephen for your generosity and commitment to our school. We are very grateful to you.

Stand By Bus Pilot
We are exploring ways to create a “stand-by” bus list to accommodate students who may wish to ride Bus 12 leaving White Hill at roughly 3:20 pm or Bus 14 leaving White Hill at roughly 3:35. This pilot project will be based on available space which is subject to change. Students will have an equitable chance at riding a late bus based on a lottery system we will employ daily. We wanted to make you aware of our desire to implement another option, and will be sharing more information next week. Our target day for initiating this pilot is Monday, September 29.

Reminders

Attendance and Tardies
Improvement in these areas continues to be a high priority and the results have been positive so far. Thanks for your help getting students to White Hill on time.
Tardies: A reminder that students will be marked tardy by teachers if they are not in their seats and ready to work when the bell to begin class rings.
Zero period: Students who arrive late to zero period must report to the attendance window to get a pass to enter class.
Early Release Check Outs: When you know you will be checking your student out early from school, please email or call our attendance clerk, Ms Ortega. She will then send a note to your student to meet you in the office at a specific time. You will also need sign your student out at Ms Ortega’s desk in the main office.

Parking on Glen Drive
Please help us in the neighborhood by respecting parking spaces and driveways of the residents on Glen Drive. It is best to park on the school side of the street if at all possible as to leave parking available for residents. Thank you.

Girls Volleyball
Games will start the week of September 25th and run through the week of Nov 6th from 3:45-5:00pm. 6th grade games will be on Mondays, 7th grade on Tuesday's, and 8th grade on Wednesdays. Game schedule to come out soon from the coaches.

Mountain Biking Club
starts next week!! on September 21st from 3:30 until 5:30 Join Parent Leaders Adams, Connolly, and Sobieraj and explore the trails of Fairfax. Leaders will take mountain bikers of varied skills on a variety of trails (weather permitting). Bike handling skills and safety will be discussed. The focus of the club will be helping new and experienced riders develop skills and confidence and most importantly, having fun! Mountain bikers need a functioning mountain bike (tuned brakes and shifting), a properly fitting bike helmet and should come to each ride prepared with drinking water, snacks, and an enthusiasm for mountain biking! Parents are welcome and encouraged to ride along. You must bring a permission slip to ride!

Children for Change Starts With A Ton of Excitement!

What a fun week for Children for Change! Meetings happened on all 5 campuses with total attendance of
over 300 kids! That’s a lot of kids wanting to do good in the world. Super inspiring!

Children for Change, a kid-driven service learning program for 3rd-8th graders aims to create a
new generation of kind, and compassionate kids inspired and motivated to take action, help others
in need and make a real difference in their community and the world.

Did your child attend the 1st meeting? Ask them a little bit about it! AND if they didn’t come, encourage
them to join us the 2nd or 3rd or 4th week!. No registration is necessary; they can just show up! Meetings
happen EVERY TUESDAY at LUNCH in Room 206!
