Thanks to community approval of "Measure A" in 2010, another campus construction project was completed just before school opened on August 27th.
Wade Thomas Elementary School received three new "Gen 7" modular classrooms, new boys and girls restrooms, a resurfaced playground and a fabulous play area which includes climbing features such as the rock structure shown in the picture above.
The RVSD Board of Trustees held a ribbon cutting ceremony tonight that included student-led tours of the new facilities, refreshments and yes, even a pair of very large scissors to cut the ribbon! The project began in late June and included the removal of three portable classrooms in addition to significant earthwork, construction of retaining walls, building foundations, re-routing utilities, installation of new plumbing, concrete walkways and more.
Students, teachers and parents are excited about the new "look" of Wade Thomas and we are all thankful to the many people who helped plan, design and build this project. Thanks also to the neighbors of Wade Thomas, who endured several weeks of construction in their otherwise quiet neighborhood.
