Dear Parents, Colleagues and Staff,
It's with great excitement that we unveil our new website to you. Over the summer our website team spent hours and hours reorganizing, rewriting and redesigning every word, photo and file to overhaul the site and create an information resource for our parents and community that really works.
Here are a few highlights:
- We've reorganized our information 'buckets' and created sections for Parents and Community making the path to the information you want and need clear and simple.
- We standardized on Google calendars for all our district calendars, including every school. If you have one student at White Hill and another at Wade Thomas, both school calendars will look and act the same, and one click is all you need to add an event or reminder to your own Google calendar.
- Every school has a new mini-site with a consistent set of information—and beautiful new photos. Need to know when school gets out on Wednesday? Check the Bell Schedule for your campus. Need to email your child's teacher? Find the address on your school's Teachers and Staff page.
- Elementary students now have their own page on every school site with easy access to online curriculum tools, including Everyday Math, Ed1Stop and the new online catalogs for each school library. Middle school students can access their curriculum resources from home through Edmodo, teacher websites and the White Hill Library page. Note: Our online resources also provide access to Net Smartz, a comprehensive resource with age-appropriate information on all aspects of Internet safety and security.
- Confused or curious about Common Core Standards? Take a look at the new Teaching & Learning section for basic information on the standards as well as details on how we're working them into classroom instruction.
- For those of you who care about the underlying technology, the entire system is built on an open-source content management system (Joomla), which in plain English means it's free and easy to update. It's also secure.
As with any new technology, we know there will be some hiccups and glitches and we want to know if you come across any. We also want to know what you think: Is there information missing? Did you have trouble finding or downloading a document? Did you find an email address that didn't work?
