As we look forward to Thanksgiving break, I want to share how grateful I am to be able to work with the families, teachers and staff at White Hill. I am thankful for our energetic students, supportive parents and our dedicated teachers. I am thankful for our Parent Club and the YES! Foundation for making White Hill a great place for our students. And I am truly grateful to for the opportunity to be part of this amazing community. I feel lucky everyday to work at White Hill.

Have a great Thanksgiving break!

Is Your Child Late to School?
We know that mornings are sometimes hectic, but it is important that any time a student is late to their first period of the day that they report to the office. Even if they show up during a class change, if they missed a previous class period, they still need to stop at the office for a pass. Thank you for your help with this.

Yearbooks
Reminder: The window for ordering your child's 2019 White Hill yearbook is NOW. Please don't delay. Every year we have families reaching out to us in January shocked and disappointed that they've missed the order window. They are on sale NOW and only until Dec 21st. Yearbooks cannot be ordered after that date. Order yours online today! Online price is $40.00 https://www.jostens.com/apps/store/customer/1004011/White-Hill-Middle-School/

The Yearbook & Graphic Arts elective class has been out and about capturing events on campus and they're designing a book that your student will look forward to receiving on Yearbook Distribution Day in early June. Yearbooks are hard-cover, all full color photographs, and include pages for autographs.

Forgotten if you've already ordered? Check your email for a confirmation from Jostens. Students can also check the order list posted on a bulletin board outside room 201 in the main quad.

Prefer to order by check? There is a $5 processing fee for check purchases which brings to cost to $45.00. Save this fee and order online! If writing a check, use the attached order form and return to the WH office. Forms are also available in the WH office.

Financial assistance (partial scholarships and a limited number of full scholarships) are available for families in need. For financial assistance information, please get a form from the WH office.

Art Department
Much appreciation to all the families who've been sending in newspapers for the art rooms. For the time being we have enough newspaper stockpiled. We'll make another newspaper request when our supplies diminish again. Many thanks!

White Hill TV Episode 2
Miss Skinner's 3rd period Design Lab students took over White Hill TV for Episode 2. They spent several weeks analyzing good video qualities and contemplating how to make educational content entertaining. They then worked in groups to write, record and edit short video reports. In addition, students got the experience of running a live TV studio thanks to the folks in the education department of Marin TV. White Hill TV was recorded live in studio with the students running the show - both behind the scenes and in front of the camera!

Please follow this link to enjoy Episode 2 of White Hill TV and stay tuned in January for episode 3!

A big THANK YOU! to the Mountain Biking Club leaders, who had their final ride last week; Matt Adams, Justin Sobieraj, and Markham Connolly. These are White Hill parents who gave generously of their time each Thursday.

Lunchtime Clubs will resume the week after Thanksgiving break and run through December 7th. The winter session will begin January 14th. The club listing will come out in late Dec/early Jan. In addition to teachers, parents are welcome to lead a lunchtime club. If you have an idea, please contact the Lunchtime Club Coordinator, Margo James, at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Thanksgiving week is almost upon us and at this time of giving we encourage you to spend time with family and friends and simply appreciate the gifts that we all have in our lives.

The Holidays can also be a great time to think of those who are not as fortunate. In Children for Change we have been studying hunger and have learned that nearly 1 in every 5 residents of Marin are experiencing some type of food insecurity. If you find yourselves looking to give a little over the break, here are a few places that will be working hard to make sure everyone has a Thanksgiving dinner this holiday.

Extrafood.org
SF/Marin Food Bank
Marin Community Clinics
St. Vincent De Paul
Ritter Center

And if you want to volunteer, check out our volunteer calendar. Learn more about C4C at www.children4change.org.
Happy Thanksgiving!
