<p>Our library has over 12,000 books and offers students of every reading level many choices for pleasure and research reading. All classes have a scheduled library time each week, starting off with a read-aloud session. Kindergarteners and 1st-graders learn library etiquette with Shelf Elf and choose a book to check out. Older grades learn library skills, as well as having computer time with their teacher in the computer lab. Students may also visit the library at all recesses. Students in 3rd, 4th and 5th grades may use the computer lab during morning and lunch recess. Parents can check out books, too. Just stop in and set up an account.<br /><br />Every year, the <a class="brightlink" target="_blank" href="http://yestokids.org">YES Foundation</a> funds new materials for the library, which keeps the collection fresh and the kids excited about books.<br /><br />The library also sponsors various programs and reading incentives, including voting for the California Young Reader Medal; a Mock Caldecott Medal in January; Author Day; Birthday Books Harry Potter Jeopardy; What Are You Reading Blog and this year’s Reading Dragon.<br /><br /><img src="https://archived.rossvalleyschools.org/images/article_images/asiembieda.jpg" alt="asiembieda" style="float: left; border: thick solid #ffffff;" width="120" height="110" />LibraryAnne has been working as library specialist at Manor since 2003. <p>There are two steps to the registration process. The first step is to fill out the online portion on School Mint. This process begins on Friday, January 25, 2019. After this date, you can access this link by clicking here <a href="https://rvsd.schoolmint.net/">school mint</a>. </p>

<p>Welcome to Manor Elementary School – Marin’s first Expeditionary Learning School! We are proud to partner with EL Education, formerly known as Expeditionary Learning. EL Education is an innovative, award-winning teaching approach born 25 years ago out of a collaboration between Harvard’s Graduate School of Education and Outward Bound. Today, there are over 150 EL schools across the US, including 10 schools in California.</p>
<p><br />Built on a foundation of academic rigor, character development, and joyful and inspiring twenty-first century learning, EL helps schools make those standards come alive for students by creating stimulating, hands-on, project-based learning environments both in and outside the classroom. Designed with an emphasis on teamwork and shared values of respect, responsibility, courage and kindness, the goal of EL is to invigorate learning through a variety of innovative core practices including learning expeditions. Learning Expeditions are long-term, in-depth, research studies focused on a compelling topic that typically seek to solve a real world problem in the school or community. Expeditions culminate in a high-quality product, presentation, or performance that both synthesizes student learning and serves a purpose for others. Examples of models of excellence from other EL schools can be found at <a href="http://modelsofexcellence.eleducation.org/" target="_blank" class="b">EL’s Center for High Quality Work</a>.</p>

<p>Manor is in its first official year of a four-year process toward becoming an EL Credentialed School. In order to become credentialed, a school must show high levels of implementation of the EL Education model in the following areas:</p>

<li>Student Character</li>

<p>School should be a place of discovery, wonder, joy and magic. It should be a place filled with excitement and enthusiasm - a place where both adults and children love to learn. As a staff, we work hard to create this magic and to inspire and motivate children to be the best they can be. We have a fantastic teaching staff, an amazing parent community, and of course, a superb student body. I am inspired and motivated every day to work with this community to reach our collective goals. I am excited for the 17-18 school year to begin and to continue creating the best education possible for our students.</p>

<h4>About Manor</h4>
<p>Manor School is one of four elementary schools in the Ross Valley School District serving Kindergarten through fifth grade students. The facility is located in the Oak Manor neighborhood of Fairfax, California in Marin County.</p>
<p>Manor Elementary has maintained a small-town, community feel with an unwavering focus on student learning. Academic instruction is balanced with character building activities providing our students with an education that prepares them to explore new learning as they matriculate to middle school and beyond. Teachers at Manor use their unique creativity to design instruction that excites and energizes students. Teachers, support staff, and parents work together and actively participate in the education of our students.</p>
<p>Our school focuses on learning that is authentic, bringing students and community together for enriched content studies and real life experiences. We take great satisfaction in the creative skills of our teachers who deliver instruction that is energizing, student-centered, and individualized when needed. Instruction is aligned with the California Common Core Standards to ensure students receive the skills and content necessary as they progress through the grade levels and are prepared for college and careers. Parents are visible in our classrooms and schools grounds, actively assisting in teaching students.</p>
<p>Bordered by a nature trail and two student playing areas, the school enjoys the setting of a beautiful valley of oak trees. Students benefit from a multi-purpose room, school garden, amphitheater, library, and art room that provide space for core and enrichment activities. The YMCA provides both before and after-school day care for Manor’s students.</p>
<p>Working closely with staff, our PTA provides additional support and materials to ensure student success. The PTA actively solicits participation from the community in monthly meetings, community events and the annual Manor Winter Faire event.</p><p>Welcome back to School!</p>
